Population III Epoch
First massive, metal-free stars ignite.
The population III Epoch was the time when the very first stars-called population III stars-formed. These stars were made almost entirely of hydrogen and helium, since heavier elements didn’t exist yet. They were extremely massive, bright, and short-lived, and their explosions created the first heavier elements, paving the way for later generations of stars and galaxies.
