Harleah Fonteyn

Harleah is a Junior Researcher at Unset. She investigates subjects across culture, history, education and everyday life, helping to research and develop the material that becomes part of unset.world.

About

Harleah’s work at Unset is also part of her education. Rather than separating learning from the world in which it will eventually be used, she learns through research, publishing and participation in a working organisation. This includes finding information, evaluating sources, developing ideas, communicating them clearly and seeing how individual pieces of knowledge connect to larger systems.

As Unset develops, her role will develop with it. This page records the subjects she has investigated, the work she has contributed to and the expanding map of what she knows.

Life

Life

12 August 2026

1. Evolution is driven by competition and survival 2. Life changed the planet’s atmosphere 3. The first life forms were single-celled organisms 4. Survival depends on adaptation 5. Mass extinction reshaped life on Earth…

Black Hole Era

Black Hole Era

12 August 2026

The black hole era is the distant future of the universe when most matter has collapsed into black holes and almost all other cosmic structures have faded away. During this time, black holes slowly lose mass through…

Declining Star-Formation Epoch

Declining Star-Formation Epoch

12 August 2026

The declining star-formation Epoch is the era after the universe's peak star-forming period, when galaxies began producing new stars much more slowly. Their gas supplies were running low or being heated and blown away…

Degenerate Era

Degenerate Era

12 August 2026

The degenerate era is the future period of the universe when star formation has ended and existing stars have burned out, leaving behind remnants like white dwarfs, neutron stars, and black holes. With little unusable…

Peak Star-Formation Epoch

Peak Star-Formation Epoch

12 August 2026

The peak star-formation Epoch was the period, roughly 10-11 billion years ago, when the universe formed new stars at its highest rate. Galaxies were rich in cold gas, which fueled rapid star birth, making them brighter…

Population III Epoch

Population III Epoch

12 August 2026

The population III Epoch was the time when the very first stars-called population III stars-formed. These stars were made almost entirely of hydrogen and helium, since heavier elements didn’t exist yet. They were…

Pre-Stellar Epoch

Pre-Stellar Epoch

12 August 2026

The pre-stellar Epoch was the period after the Big Bang when no stars yet existed. The universe was filled with cooling hydrogen and helium gas that slowly clumped together under gravity. These growing gas clouds…

Primordial Era

Primordial Era

12 August 2026

The primordial era refers to the earliest phase of the universe , beginning with the Big Bang around 13.8 billion years ago. During this time , the universe was extremely hot and dense, filled with a rapidly expanding…

Red-Dwarf Dominance Epoch

Red-Dwarf Dominance Epoch

12 August 2026

The red-dwarf dominance epoch is the long future era when most new stars being formed are small, cool red dwarfs, and many larger stars have already died. Because red dwarfs burn their fuel extremely slowly, they become…

Reionisation Epoch

Reionisation Epoch

12 August 2026

The reionisation epoch was the period when the first stars and galaxies emitted enough high-energy light to reionise the hydrogen gas filling the universe. After the long “dark age,” this radiation cleared the fog-like…

Stelliferous Era

Stelliferous Era

12 August 2026

The stelliferous era is the long stretch of cosmic time when stars are actively forming and shining. Beginning hundreds of millions of years after the Big Bang and lasting for trillions of years, it’s marked by bright…
